  4. One song in particular attracted my attention: "THOSE WERE THE DAYS" (in Mary Hopkin recorded it on "Apple Records" produced by Paul McArtney - i have that LP (and cd) i also have the song on an album by the great Lana Cantrell and somewhere in Russian by Ivan Rebroff so i really wanted to hear how Melanie delivered this /5(9).
  5. Jun 23,  · If you want to be optimistic. Carnegie is a weird record. They couldn't really hear themselves OR what was going on. The record has its moments, but mostly sucks, and I love the band. I was able to compile one good copy from 2 copies; $1 boxes from thrift stores, posters and inserts intact. There's two ways this LP was sold.
  6. The rafters of Carnegie Hall may not still be echoing with the extraordinary voice of Ivan Rebroff, for all songs must end. But surely, some melody must linger on from that night when this great Russian basso brought his prodigious talent and his gifted musicians for the first time to the stage of this great and revered Concert hall.5/5(1).
  7. Full disclosure: I first heard this album more than 60 years ago, bought it, wore it out but still have it. It became an instant classic, because of the Christmas Eve, performance of course, but also because it smashed a cultural wall in doing it live at the hallowed classical music monument that was Carnegie Hall/5(54).
