  1. Often credited as an instrumental force in shaping Emperor's sound, original bassist Mortiis had very little opportunity to record with the group before fleeing Norway and beginning a solo career. Originally released as an EP in , with subsequent reissues adding four tracks recorded for the Hordanes Land split EP, Wrath of the Tyrant includes nearly everything Mortiis recorded with the band.
  2. Wrath of the Tyrant () Emperor () As the Shadows Rise () In , the EP was made into a split album with Enslaved’s EP Hordanes Land. In , it was reissued with their demo Wrath Of The Tyrant. Songs “Wrath Of The Tyrant” and “Night Of The Graveless Souls” were rerecorded.
  3. "Hordanes Land" is a classic. The Emperor portion of the disc is naturally great. Their older stuff never disappoints and this is no exception. "I Am the Black Wizards" is probably one of the greatest tracks they ever recorded. However, I think I enjoy the Enslaved part of the disc a little more/5(7).
  4. 1. Introduction (Wrath of the Tyrant Demo ) 2. Ancient Queen (Wrath of the Tyrant Demo ) 3. My Empire's Doom (Wrath of the Tyrant Demo ) 4. Forgotten Centuries (Wrath of the Tyrant Demo ) 5. Night of the Graveless Souls (Wrath of the Tyrant Demo ) 6. Moon over Kara-Shehr (Wrath of the Tyrant Demo ) 7.
  5. View credits, reviews, tracks and shop for the Cassette release of Wrath Of The Tyrant on Discogs. Label: Not On Label (Emperor (2) Self-released) - none • Format: Cassette Single Sided • Country: Norway • Genre: Rock • Style: Black Metal.5/5(1).
  6. One of only three Emperor outputs to feature Mortiis on bass (the other being the Emperor MLP and the As the Shadows Rise EP which features re-recordings of some songs off this demo). First release is a self production by Emperor: Cover folded out. - Recorded onto studio tapes. - .
  7. IMHO, this is Emperor at their finest; it contains the ¨Emperor¨Ep (4 track') and the ¨Wrath Of The Tyrant¨ demo (9 tracks'), both painstakingly remastered and packaged beautifully with gorgeous artwork on the cover, back, inner tray and disc itself/5(27).
  8. Total time is for Emperor and for Hordanes Land. The CD is total – a fair length. Highlights of the album include Emperor’s “Wrath of the Tyrant” and Enslaved’s “Slaget I Skogen Bortenfor”. This is a great collector’s album, and a great CD to keep in a Discman, for example, as it has two great EPs on one disk.
  9. Bringing together the Wrath Of The Tyrant demo and the Emperor EP (also to be released as part of the Hordanes Land split with Enslaved the same year), this compilation is the definitive lesson in early Emperor.
